CDW partners with 2iC and MilUX to deliver deployable command post for the United Kingdom’s Land Special Operations Forces

Partners 08 May, 2024

CDW, a leading information technology solutions provider, has partnered with 2iC and MilUX to deliver a deployable Staff Working Environment (SWE) and Communication Information Systems capability for the UK’s Land Special Operations Forces (Land SOF) over the next two years. Together, they will create a repeatable model to operationally, technically, and commercially deliver modern digital solutions to deployed users at pace and scale.

Land SOF seeks a robust and agile command post that can be scaled to the form and function requirements of their specialist and highly mobile users, operating in challenging environments across the world. This exciting collaboration will focus on user-centred design principles to develop a globally deployable SWE for Land SOF that will speed up the decision-making cycle and enhance the performance of communications.

The collaboration led by CDW has been formed to best deliver and reflect the three lenses of innovation: viability, feasibility, and desirability.

  • CDW will bring its market leading professional services and advanced supply chain capabilities to provide and integrate leading COTs technologies that will meet this unique use case.
  • 2iC are a global leader in digital interoperability software and are the C5ISR Solution Architect for the Land SOF, leading the digital integration.
  • MilUX is a market leader in user-centred design and business agility, enabling clients to accelerate delivery across their value streams.

CDW will work closely with 2iC and MilUX to demonstrate the partnership’s value in the Defence Supply Chain, showcasing our ability to pull together the right team to achieve the best outcome. The organisations will work with Land SOF sub-units to understand their digital challenges before designing a highly secure, technologically advanced, scalable command post that will improve command and control for military personnel.

To deliver on the programme, CDW will utilise its experience from integrating multiple technologies to deliver a similar SWE capability for the HQ Allied Rapid Reaction Corps that addressed three technology pillars: manoeuvre shelter, power, and secure cableless Communications Information System. Meanwhile, 2iC and MilUX have already evolved the Concept of Communications for Land SOF following a 12-month discovery phase that started in 2022.

To provide the best possible solution, CDW will harness the experience of relevant vendors across its expansive supply chain to integrate the best available technologies. Conditions are set for the utilisation of both fielded equipment and COTS innovation so that Land SOF can achieve its goal of full operational capability by 2026.
