Why Should You Assess Your Network Infrastructure?
As networks evolve and grow, legacy configuration is often left behind, which over time can result in degraded performance and a weakened security stance. In addition, default network services (for example), may also have been left enabled or incorrectly configured, which can result in weakened access controls and stability.
CDW Network Health Assessment
The CDW Network Health Assessment is designed for organisations that want to understand what their network looks like and are looking for assurance the network is robust, performant, and configured in accordance to industry best practices. The resulting report can be presented to your IT management team, who are responsible for ensuring a high level of continuity and availability on the network. The toolsets and methods used by CDW Consultants to perform the health check are designed to run in a production environment with minimal impacts on the existing infrastructure. We perform:
Discovery of your wired network topology and associated device configurations.
Identification of risks with clear recommendations around configuration updates, support status, operational performance, and identification of single point of failures.
Our analysis includes a review of your existing management or monitoring processes.
Valid read-only SNMP access enabled.
A list of devices or IP ranges to be discovered. CDW can offer additional bespoke physical audit services if you are unsure of the makeup of your estate.
Monitoring software is sometimes installed to capture usage and health statistics where existing services are not available. A virtual appliance is sometimes deployed depending on volume of devices to be discovered.
Read-only access to the device CLI and any other management consoles for lower level script-based discovery.
The report* includes switch hardware and firmware and associated vendor support status; device serial numbers; routing and redundancy configuration; device overview port and spanning tree level configurations; network topology; highlighting any concerns and providing remedial recommendations. *Report content varies dependent upon service purchased
