CDW UK & International has taken another bold step in its sustainability journey by refreshing its end user device estate with 1,500 new Windows laptops, all delivered through HP’s Carbon Neutral Computing Services. This strategic move supports CDW’s 2040 Carbon Net Zero goal and reflects its commitment to amplifying sustainable impact through collective expertise and scale.
In 2020, CDW set a 2040 Carbon Net Zero target for its UK&I business. In 2024, the company gained approval from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for three near-term reduction goals across its global operations. Environmental performance was a key factor in the recent device refresh, ensuring that the new fleet aligns with CDW’s carbon reduction and climate protection objectives.
By partnering with HP, CDW ensures that the emissions associated with the full lifecycle of the devices - including raw material extraction, manufacturing, transport, use, and end-of-service - are offset through third-party validated and verified carbon credits, selected and retired by HP.
Jon Steggles, Sustainability and Social Value Manager at CDW, said: “CDW continues to build an ever-improving sustainability posture both for our business and those we serve. This is another great demonstration of living our values, and advancing our purpose-led, performance-driven approach.”
Ben Laws, Director of PPM & Marketing at CDW, added: “As a significant partner to HP in both UK & International markets, it has been great collaborating to ensure our new Windows end user device fleet is carbon neutral and supports our company’s Carbon Net Zero journey.”
Andrew Freiberger, Head of Infrastructure and Portfolio at CDW, commented: “Reducing the carbon footprint of our technology infrastructure is an important workstream in support of our emissions reduction journey. Deploying carbon neutral devices as part of this refresh builds upon previous initiatives and provides resilience for the next four years.”
Nancy Powell, HP Manager for Sustainability UK&I and EMEA Markets, said: “I see first-hand how alignment between HP and CDW is really valued by our mutual customers. There are an increasing number of ways in which our collaboration is enabling real and measurable benefits. The decarbonisation journey is front of mind for all businesses, and I am always grateful to lean on the expertise of my peers in the Channel to meet this challenge together.”
CDW’s sustainability leadership was recognised in March 2025 completing EcoVadis’ annual recertification programme securing a Silver Medal and placing the company in the top 6% of organisations assessed in the category, and the top 1% for the environment theme, while retaining its Carbon Leader Status.
