This week marked a significant milestone as we attended the signing of the Armed Forces Covenant by CDW. This event underscores our unwavering commitment to supporting the brave men and women who have served and continue to serve our nation. We would like to take this opportunity to highlight the importance of the Armed Forces Covenant and CDW's dedication to this noble cause and what it means to us.

What is the Armed Forces Covenant?

The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise by the nation ensuring that those who serve or have served in the armed forces, and their families, are treated fairly. It is a commitment to support them in various aspects of their lives, including healthcare, education, housing, and employment. The Covenant recognises the sacrifices made by the armed forces community and seeks to provide them with the respect and support they deserve.

The Significance of CDW's Involvement

CDW's decision to sign the Armed Forces Covenant is a testament to our company's values and principles. By officially committing to the Covenant, CDW pledges to uphold its promises, ensuring that our armed forces personnel, veterans, and their families receive the support they need. This commitment goes beyond mere words; it translates into tangible actions and policies that make a real difference in the lives of those who have served.

Why This Matters

Supporting the armed forces community is not just a commendable act; it is a moral obligation. These individuals have dedicated their lives to protecting our freedoms, providing aid and support, sometimes in the most inhospitable locations and ensuring our safety. They have faced immense challenges, both during and after their service, and it is our duty to ensure they are not left behind. By signing the Armed Forces Covenant, CDW is taking a proactive step in recognising and addressing the unique needs of this community.

Our Commitment in Action

CDW’s support for the armed forces community will manifest in numerous ways:

  • Providing employment opportunities and career development programs for veterans and reservists.
  • Ensuring flexible working conditions for employees who are also reservists or have family members in the armed forces.
  • Supporting initiatives and charities that benefit the armed forces community.
  • Fostering a workplace culture that understands and values the experiences and skills of armed forces personnel.

These actions reflect our dedication to creating an inclusive and supportive environment for those who have served.

Personal Reflections

As representatives of the CTO and both being veterans, Stephen Faulkner and I are indicators indicators of the value that CDW place on not only this event but also the support that was already afforded to veterans within CDW.

As we prepared for the signing ceremony, both of us experienced a range of emotions, but pride and a strong sense of purpose stood out for each of us. This event is more than a formal commitment; it is a celebration of the values that CDW stands for. It is an acknowledgment of the sacrifices made by the armed forces community and a pledge to support them in their journey. All of us here are honoured to be a part of this momentous occasion and look forward to seeing the continued positive impact of our commitment.

Alignment to CDW Values

There is a clear alignment between the values of CDW, emblazoned on the walls in our office, and the culture and value instilled in those who have served. All these values drive a culture centred around respect and keeping our commitments, something that is absolutely at the heart of the armed forces doctrine; one that is focused on educating us to be able to make the right decision at the right time.

Conclusion

The signing of the Armed Forces Covenant by CDW is a significant step in our continuing efforts to provide support to the extensive armed forces community. It is a promise to stand by those who have stood by us, ensuring they receive the respect, support, and opportunities they deserve. All of us here at CDW are proud to be associated with a company that values, upholds and actively practices such noble principles. Together, we all can make a difference in the lives of those who have given and continue to give so much for our country.
