CDW UK is honoured to have received the highly coveted Gold award in the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS), marking a significant milestone just over one year after achieving Silver status.
The prestigious accreditation recognises the strength of our ongoing commitment to supporting the Armed Forces community both within and beyond our business, showcasing substantial growth across CDW UK’s Armed Forces Covenant pledges over the last 13 months.
Achieving Gold is the culmination of a four-year journey that has seen CDW UK continually strengthen and expand its support for the Armed Forces community. From signing the Armed Forces Covenant at the Churchill War Rooms in 2024, to embedding a wide range of initiatives that has enhanced opportunities, development and support for Armed Forces personnel, veterans, reservists and Service families across our organisation, we have remained committed to creating meaningful growth and lasting impact.
The Defence Employer Recognition Scheme acknowledges employers that provide exceptional support to the Armed Forces community and Defence, by going above and beyond their initial Covenant pledges through policies, practices and advocacy. The scheme comprises of three levels of recognition: Bronze, Silver and Gold, with Gold representing the highest level of achievement.
Since signing the Armed Forces Covenant in 2024, CDW UK has continued to build on its commitments by implementing initiatives that support the recruitment, retention and career development of ex service personnel, reservists and Service families, including:
-
Providing 10 additional days of Reservist leave
-
Prioritised veteran recruitment and retention
-
Strengthening of our internal Armed Forces Network
-
Ensuring dedicated and supportive HR policies for all members of the Armed Forces community
Alongside these efforts, CDW UK has strengthened its partnerships with Armed Forces charities and community organisations across the UK, including Help for Heroes, Team Forces and SSAFA, the Armed Forces Charity, recognising the importance of extending support across military communities outside our organisation.
We maintain Bronze Sponsorship of Team Forces, contributing to wellbeing, sporting and development opportunities for serving personnel, veterans and their families. CDW UK are also a key partner of Help for Heroes, having donated Intel® Core™ Ultra HP devices to support the charity's AI for Citizens curriculum, alongside AI integration training. Nick Garland, Head of Defence and Secure Government at CDW UK, also serves as an ambassador for Help for Heroes, further strengthening the relationship between our organisations and our shared commitment to supporting veterans. Through our Armed Forces Network, CDW UK has also taken part in fundraising initiatives for SSAFA, the Armed Forces Charity, including the 13 Bridges Challenge in support of Armed Forces Day.
Investing in young people also remains an important part of our social impact commitments. CDW UK has provided local Cadet forces with the opportunity to participate in a career experience day and visit our Logistics and Technology Centre in Rugby, enabling an insight into the breadth of future career opportunities available as a result of the diverse skillsets gained from Cadet training.
“Receiving the Gold Award is a significant milestone for CDW UK and reinforces our long-standing commitment to the Armed Forces community. The values demonstrated by serving personnel, reservists and veterans—integrity, teamwork, leadership and resilience—align closely with our own culture and are a key contributor to our success. This recognition acknowledges the meaningful investment we have made across the business to support Armed Forces personnel and their families, and we look forward to continuing that journey.”
-- Nick Garland, Head of Secure Government, CDW UK
