The covenant aims to acknowledges the unique obligations of, and sacrifices made by, the UK Armed Forces and its wider community. It commits signatories to supporting the welfare, employment and education of the armed forces community and their families to ensure they face no disadvantage compared to other citizens.

The signing event, sponsored by Cisco, took place on 11 September in London. The celebration featured talks from Nick Garland, Head of Central and Secure Government at CDW UK & International, Brigadier Chris Palmer at the Ministry of Defence, and James Needham at Help for Heroes.

Brigadier Chris Palmer said: It is fantastic to see the growing interest in this sector to pledge support the Armed Forces community, to Veterans, reservist, military spouses, and partners- all of which offer an invaluable set of skills, that [CDW] both recognise and appreciate within [its] workplace.

CDW is a proud supporter of the Armed Forces community. Its internal Armed Forces Network is a Business Resource Group dedicated to promoting, recognising, and celebrating the unique experiences and transferable skills that veterans bring into CDW. Its mission is to build a network that supports the ongoing transition needs from Armed Forces and wider community into corporate roles, for CDW’s collective success.

Commenting on the signing, Nick Garland said: “This partnership reflects our deep respect for the sacrifices made by the armed forces community and the recognition of the unique skills and capabilities they bring to our business. As a former British Army Officer, I understand the challenges of transitioning into civilian life and the importance doing what we can to make that transition easier.”

CDW is an equal opportunity employer, and DEI is a fundamental component of the "CDW Way," our core values statement. We are moving with purpose toward a destination where these values become a lived reality — where belonging is an everyday experience for all coworkers and future candidates.
