It has been an epic start to the Britcar Championship season for CDW’s Solutions Specialist Aaron Morgan. Following a fantastic 2nd place finish at the season opener at Silverstone last month, Aaron and his teammate Bobby Trundley were back in the driving seat last Saturday, May 8th at a very wet Snetterton Circuit, determined to build on the points they accrued in round one.

They were not disappointed. There, they achieved a brilliant 2nd place finish in the first race; followed by a nail-biting second race, where the duo battled back from last place into a 1st place victory.

The racers faced a challenging day with severe winds and rains battering the track from early morning. The first race took place in the afternoon and saw a tough battle on the grid as cars struggled with the wet track. However, Aaron and Bobby remained unphased and held on to their P2 position.

The second race began in the early evening with Aaron starting in P2. Tensions ran high as Aaron spun on the slippery first lap which, alongside a 10 second ‘winners penalty’ for coming in 2nd in the first race, sent the pair back to last place. Fuelled with adrenaline, Aaron persevered and fought back from last place up to P5 before making a strategic pit stop that let Bobby continue the race in P5.

Unbelievably, Bobby then passed every car in the class, clocking 5 seconds per lap quicker than any other car and finishing P1 at the chequered flag. Team Brit was able to claim its first victory in the Aston Martin.

CDW's Aaron said “Such an amazing weekend. From the torrential rain and wind in the morning to the P1 in class in the second race. The day certainly had everything and tested my driving skills to the full! It was a huge team effort as usual, from Bobby and I through to the mechanics everyone performed at their best. I am still on a high from the day and am confident that, with this team we can continue our success for the rest of the season. I cannot wait for the next round now”

Speaking on the team’s performance, Team Founder Dave Player said: “What an emotional rollercoaster the weekend was! Seeing Bobby and Aaron take home P1 in class, despite the horrendous weather conditions and an unfortunate spin was priceless. They’ve now set the bar extremely high for the rest of the season and we’ll certainly be doing everything possible to help them keep up this amazing momentum.”

A huge congratulations to Aaron and Bobby for their tremendous performance. We are beyond proud and can’t wait for their next race on June 12th at Oulton Park!
