Having secured silverware in almost every race of this year’s season, CDW’s Solutions Specialist Aaron Morgan and teammate Bobby Trundley were determined to take to the podium again in Round 3 of the Endurance Category in the Britcar Championship at Oulton Park on Saturday June 12th.

The team had a fantastic start to the day by qualifying in P1 for the first of the day’s races. Race one saw Bobby first in the car creating a strong start for Team Brit where he used every inch of the track to keep their competitor, EDF Motorsport, at bay. However, an early safety car period (a car that limits the speed of the race cars when the track is under caution) provided a great strategic opportunity for the team to pit.

Thankfully, this did not impact Team Brit and the timing worked in their favour, as the time lost in the pitlane is less when the safety car is on the track as opposed to normal racing conditions. After a flawless stop, Aaron hopped into the driver’s seat and continued to battle it out with a monumental stint on the track. After all the stops were done, Team BRIT was a fantastic P1 in class, and P2 overall in the race. With quick thinking and brilliant driving, Aaron then held the class position to bring the car over the line to an erupting pit wall – the second Team Brit win in a row

The grid order for race 2 was decided by the second fastest time in the morning’s qualifying session, resulting in Team Brit starting in P1 again. The TCR car, that started in P2, made a great move on Aaron into turn 1 so Aaron tried to regain his position whilst holding the rest of the field at bay. While an excellent effort, unfortunately a mistake under braking meant that Aaron could not finish off the race and had his first DNF in the Aston since the 2019 season.

Despite the unfortunate mishap in the second race, the team had a fantastic race weekend and are currently sitting fifth in the Britcar Endurance Championship – a mere 7 points behind the leaders on 141 points! Aaron and Bobby are now second in Class 4, just 5 points behind the leaders.

Speaking on the race, Team BRIT Founder Dave Player said; “What a weekend once again. Right from the outset, Bobby and Aaron were on form, supported by Al and his crew who worked the strategy perfectly.”

“We were fastest in practice, with excellent driving, alongside a bit of a luck after the safety car, and superb pitstops, meant we got ourselves the P1 start position in qualifying we needed. A fantastic battle between Bobby, Aaron and our fastest chasers showed incredible driving from everyone, but I am delighted that once again we took the win.”

“It was really unfortunate to have to bow out of race 2 so early when I’m sure we could have pushed for yet another podium spot, but that’s the way of racing! Our points total is looking strong and I’m confident we’ll be fighting for the top spot once again at Silverstone.”

Yet again, fantastic work Aaron and Bobby. We look forward to following you both at Silverstone on the 3rd July!
