Forensic Capability Network

Challenge

Transforming Forensics (TF) is a National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC) programme funded by the Home Office (HO) to create advanced forensic capabilities that meet the changing needs of policing and the public. TF works with the Forensic Capability Network (FCN) and other partners to deliver a range of activities, including the Rape Review Response project. FCN needed to deliver 150+ pre-configured devices and accessories to forces across England & Wales to make the gathering of evidence less invasive and more consistent across regions.

Solution

• Global market constraints meant that CDW had to leverage its relationships with key partners to meet the tight project timescale. 
• CDW initiated daily “stand ups” with the whole project team to ensure all technical issues were debated and fixed at the earliest possible juncture, ensuring a smooth process.
• Forensics Network Services team configured the devices into 6 different “images” to ensure the devices were perfectly aligned to each Force’s requirements and worked straight out of the box.

Outcome

• The initial project to deliver hardware and software bundles for 24 Police forces across England & Wales was delivered successfully and ahead of time.
• The new equipment will enable Police Forces to provide better support to victims and witnesses of RASSO offences in the crucial first hour following an offence being committed to help ensure justice is done.
• CDW will provide ongoing support to ensure all devices are kept updated and performing to exacting requirements.
